Instead of painting a piece of furniture ‘flat and smooth’ I really like to use a bit of texture to give my pieces a ‘lived in’ feel. Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan is by far the best paint to achieve this look. This was a badly painted cupboard (white gloss!) which I’ve transformed with just one coat of French Linen, some Old Ochre in the panels and a little bit of subtle stencil work. And you know what…? It’s great fun too!
