Description

An original 20th century Trunk which I have up cycled into an RMS TITANIC Chest / Trunk / Coffee Table – a very useful piece of industrial style furniture.
Every piece we make is a one-off, ages old, unique piece of furniture.
We believe in re-cycling and re-using rather than dumping in landfill and constantly buying new.
We hunt down the best mix of eclectic pieces we can find that can be reworked and re-loved again.
As each one is scrubbed and cleaned we assess the best way to put it back together to make it exciting and useful – before being repaired, hand painted, waxed and buffed within an inch of its life.
The result is a cross between warehouse style industrial furniture and advertising from the early 20th century – you do get the feeling that you’ve stumbled upon something from an old movie set.
Whilst every one is different they all share the same raw simplicity of design. None are perfect, they all carry dents, scratches and repairs picked up over a long lifetime – but these help give them their own unique characters. If you are after ‘new’, this isn’t for you.
But if you are after something unique, Made in Sevenoaks and pretty darn funky, then this has your name written all over it.
Details of this particular chest
The top has the WHITE STAR logo on it.
The front has ‘R.M.S. TITANIC’ painted on
Size is approximately 49cm – 19.  19/64 inches high (including legs) , 84cm – 33. 5/64  inches wide and 34cm – 13. 25/64 inches deep.
It sits on steel hairpin legs which are 20cm or 8 inches tall
The lid is lined with an old newspaper featuring the sinking of the Titanic.
Annie Sloan Graphite has been used to paint the chest and finished with Annie Sloan Dark Wax.
The inside is painted black
There are several holes, dints, dents and scratches as you would expect from a piece this age. For the best description please see the pics.
There is a  steel handle to each end with ‘DECK A’ painted on..
The lid is held open by way of a brass chain. There is a brass inset finger handle to the front.
Please note this is NOT a genuine piece of Titanic memorabilia.
Please treat your piece carefully, like a fine piece of furniture – use coasters for cups and hot drinks, otherwise you are likely to mark the waxed surface.
No overseas postage at the moment I’m afraid as the chest is heavy and bulky and the freight costs would be prohibitive
